Snowfall has occurred in areas adjoining the upper reaches of Shimla, Bang of Manali, Rohtang, Dalhousie of District Chamba, Khajiyar, Dankund, Lakkad Mandi, Dhauladhar Range in District Kangra.

The snowfall in these winter tourist destinations has increased the expectations of tourism business and hoteliers in the region. Hoteliers hope that more tourists will arrive now. Tourists can plan to roam in the snow-covered plains. The good thing is that these days tourists will easily get hotel rooms at low rates.

Great room available for two thousand rupees

There are about 300 hotels in Dharamshala and McLeodganj area. McLeodganj and Upper Naddi area received snowfall. Hotel businessmen here have been doing well in January and hotels had 50 to 60 percent bookings, but most of the hotels have been vacant for the last one week. Currently, bookings in the McLeodganj area are 20 to 30 percent. Before Kovid-19, taking room in the McLeodganj area was expensive and the normal room here also used to get more than 1500 to 200 rupees.

Now the tourists have reduced, the hotel operators have also reduced the rate. Now rooms are available in Dharamshala and McLeodganj area for a minimum of Rs 600. First class i.e. suite room is available for 2 thousand rupees. Other tourist places of the state, Dalhousie, Manali also have rooms available at a similar rate.

Atal Tunnel and Rohtang’s Didar

Rohtang, the main tourist destination of Manali, and other areas including Atal Tunnel Rohtang have been blown by snowfall. Despite the clear weather, there can be a huge inflow of tourists to Manali. Tourists can enjoy snow in the cold desert Lahul via the Atal Tunnel. Manali is easily accessible from Chandigarh via the Fourlane Highway. Apart from this, the airport at Bhuntar in Kullu can also be reached via flight.

Light snowfall in Dalhousie

Dalhousie, the main tourist destination in district Chamba, has received little snowfall. In contrast, Dankund, Khajjiar and Lakkad Mandi received three to four inches of snow. Occupancy of tourists in hotels has been going on for 20 to 30 percent since long. In terms of snowfall, now the movement of tourists will also increase here. To reach Dalhousie, one can easily reach by road from Pathankot to Nurpur.

Hotel traders expect snowfall

Ashwani Bamba, president of Hotel Association Dharamshala, says the recession was going on for the past few weeks. All the tourist places of the state were seen from empty. For this, the rates in hotels have also been reduced. It is expected that tourists will increase after the snowfall. On the other hand, international flights are not fully open yet, so its effect is visible.

Tourism gets Sanjeevani, Atal Tunnel first choice

Anoop Thakur, president of Hotel Association Manali, said tourism has brought life to life with the snowfall. He said that after the release of Atal Tunnel, the influx of tourists has increased in Manali and Atal Tunnel has remained their first choice. Occupancy is about 40 percent in Manali these days. But occupancy is expected to increase after fresh snowfall. These days, 30 to 40 percent discount is also being given in most hotels. Great rooms are available for tourists for one to two thousand rupees.
